Meyer Burger and Memodo sign supply agreement for Italy
Meyer Burger Technology AG
/ Key word(s): Contract
Media release Thun, Switzerland – March 28, 2025 Meyer Burger and Memodo sign supply agreement for Italy Meyer Burger Technology AG and photovoltaic distributor Memodo have signed a supply agreement. The high-performance modules “Made in Germany” were manufactured at the Freiberg plant in Germany and are intended for the Italian market. “We are very pleased about the agreement with Memodo and the development of the Italian market,” says Franz Richter, Executive Chairman of Meyer Burger. “Supporting projects with solar modules from European production strengthens infrastructure and is a positive step toward greater independence in the renewable energy sector.” “As a distributor, we strongly believe in the technological quality of Meyer Burger modules,” says Davide Saba, Managing Director of Memodo Italy. “This incentive program is very attractive for Italian customers because it not only supports the energy requalification of Italy’s business network but also provides fresh momentum for the EU’s photovoltaic module production, which has suffered greatly from non-European competition.” Meyer Burger’s high-performance modules are the only ones on the market to qualify for Category C — the highest incentive level — under a new regulation that provides strong incentives for solar projects using modules manufactured in Europe. This regulation is part of the “Transizione 5.0” program, through which the Italian government supports companies in their digital and energy transformation efforts. To qualify for the highest incentive category, Category C, solar modules must meet the following criteria: They must be manufactured in European Union member states, use bifacial solar cells that are also produced in the EU, and achieve a cell efficiency of at least 24 percent. Media contacts Meyer Burger Technology AG Alexandre Müller About Meyer Burger Technology AG Meyer Burger researches, develops and produces highly efficient solar cells and solar modules of the latest generation based on the patented Heterojunction/SmartWire technology.
