Indonesia Inflation Rises Slightly To 1.57%
(RTTNews) - Indonesia's consumer price inflation rose marginally in December from a three-year low in November, data from the statistics bureau showed on Thursday.
The consumer price index climbed 1.57 percent year-on-year in December, following a 1.55 percent increase in the previous month. Economists had expected inflation to rise to 1.6 percent.
Moreover, the inflation rate has remained within the central bank's target range of 1.5 to 3.5 percent.
Data also showed that core inflation held steady at 2.26 percent versus an expected rate of 2.28 percent.
The annual price growth in food items accelerated to 1.90 percent from 1.68 percent. Health costs were 1.93 percent higher compared to last year, while transportation charges decreased by 0.30 percent.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices moved up 0.44 percent in December, as expected.
