Copper price hits new record as tariff deadline looms

Copper futures hit a new record on Tuesday as the US market continues to brace itself for a 50% tariff next month.The most active September contracts on the CME soared as much as 1.6% to $5.7275 per lb., a new all-time high.Since US President Donald Trump’s tariff announcement earlier this month, copper price have soared past the $5/lb. level to new heights.
