Indonesian Consumers More Optimistic In December

(RTTNews) - Indonesian consumer confidence strengthened further in December to the highest level in eight months, survey data from the Bank Indonesia showed on Thursday.

The consumer confidence index rose to 127.7 in December from 125.9 in the previous month. A reading above 100 indicates optimism among households.

The increase in consumer confidence in December was driven by a stronger current economic condition index and a persistently optimistic consumer expectation index. Both indexes recorded broad-based gains across all components.

The current economic condition index improved to 116.0 in December from 113.5 in the prior month. Data showed that the consumer expectation index stood at 139.5 versus 138.3 in November.
