Energiekontor puts Letschin solar park into operation and expands own park portfolio

Bremen, 25 March 2025 – Energiekontor AG (“Energiekontor”), a leading German project developer and operator of wind and solar parks based in Bremen and listed in the General Standard, has commissioned the recently completed Letschin solar park, thus expanding the portfolio of parks owned by the Group.

The Letschin solar park, in the district of Märkisch-Oderland in Brandenburg, Germany, achieved financial close in July 2023 and was able to begin operations in March 2025 as planned following the completion of construction work. The park covers an area of around 55 hectares, which is roughly equivalent to 65 football pitches. The total nominal output of the park is 60 megawatt peak. The average expected annual yield from the first full year of operation is around 68 gigawatt hours – enough to supply almost 21,000 average households in Germany with renewable electricity and save around 47,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

The solar park has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with a well-known German industrial company and, as part of Energiekontor’s own portfolio, will immediately start to contribute to the electricity generation income of the power generation segment in the Group-owned wind and solar parks. Accordingly, the total generation capacity of Energiekontor’s own park portfolio has increased to around 444 megawatts, spread over 36 wind parks and three solar parks. The proportion of solar energy in Energiekontor’s own portfolio is now around 19 percent.

Energiekontor is also planning to commence operations at the Königsfeld solar park in the Black Forest in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in the second quarter of 2025. With a total nominal output of around five megawatt peak, this park will also be transferred to Energiekontor’s own portfolio. Energiekontor’s power generation segment currently has three solar parks and three wind parks under construction, totalling around 160 megawatts, which will increase the total volume of Energiekontor’s own park portfolio to more than 600 megawatts in the future. Further projects that are also earmarked for the company’s own portfolio are expected to achieve financial close in the current financial year.

“The commissioning of the Letschin solar park is an important addition to our own park portfolio that also brings further diversity to the portfolio in terms of technology. By constantly expanding our own portfolio, we are ensuring the financial stability of our business model. We are thus strengthening the recurring earnings of the power generation segment, our second important pillar alongside the project planning segment,” emphasised Peter Szabo, CEO of Energiekontor AG.

The current composition and expansion trajectory of Energiekontor’s own portfolio will be presented in the 2024 annual report, which will be published on 28 March 2025 on Energiekontor’s website at https://www.energiekontor.de/en/investor-relations/financial-reports.html.

Founded in Bremerhaven, Germany, in 1990, the company is among the pioneers in its industry and is now one of Germany’s leading project developers. In addition, Energiekontor operates 36 wind and three solar parks with a total nominal power of around 444 megawatts in its own portfolio. Around 160 megawatts, which are also earmarked for the Group's own portfolio, are currently under construction. Energiekontor also plays a pioneering role in economic terms and aims to realise the first wind and solar parks in all target markets at market prices as quickly as possible, independently of state subsidies.

Since being established, Energiekontor has a proud track record of realising over 160 wind and solar park projects with a total nominal power of more than 1.4 gigawatts. This corresponds to an investment volume of more than 2.0 billion euros. The significantly expanded project pipeline in the first half of 2024 (11.0 gigawatts excluding US project rights) shows the future growth potential and the possible contribution that Energiekontor can make to the expansion of renewable energies.
